… and a blog is born.
This new political commentary site is inspired by the extraordinary events that commenced on July 21, 2024, when Joe Biden handed over the reins of the Democratic Party presidential nomination to Kamala Harris.
With breathtaking speed the party coalesced around Harris and a tsunami of enthusiasm was unleashed. Democratic despair for this November’s election has turned into growing hope, even budding confidence. All in just sixteen days.
Remarkable. Unprecedented. Exhilarating.
In this blog I will chronicle my views on how this campaign unfolds from here. As I write, we are on the cusp of Harris’ VP pick reveal, so I’ll have something to say about that soon. (And I’m rooting for and predicting Tim Walz.)

In the very first hours of this presidential-race sea change, I found myself growing increasingly confident that support for Harris would grow and carry her all the way to the Oval Office. That confidence has continued to grow over the two-plus weeks since July 21.
If it turns out I’m wrong and this rapidly expanding sense of new hope bursts I will report and comment on that. But, as I first wrote on July 27:
“… I’ll stick my neck out now and predict that nope, that’s not going to happen.”
~~~
The election of Kamala Harris and the defeat of Donald Trump is not only my prediction. It is also – together with a growing number of our fellow citizens – my fervent hope. So that’s my bias here, to help Kamala Harris get elected.
That said, I have no connection to the Harris campaign, nor to any organization supporting Harris. I am an independent one-person operation, and I will call it as I see it.
